Only courses receiving a percentage grade can be used for HonourRoll calculations. The averages will be calculated as follows:
Grade 9 will be calculated on the average of 8 Grade 9 credits:
1. Five compulsory subjects; English Language Arts, Social Studies, Mathematics, Phys. Ed, and Science.
2. The best three optional credits at the Grade 9 level.
Grade 10 will be calculated on the average of 8 Grade 10 credits:
1. Five compulsory subjects; English Language Arts, Geography, Phys. Ed, Science and the better Mathematics mark at the Grade 10 level.
2. a) Regular Program Students: The best three credits from their optional subjects at the Grade 10 level.
b) Vocational Program Students: The best three credits from the vocational semester.
Grade 11 will be calculated on the average of 6 credits as follows:
1. Regular Program Students:
a) Compulsory subjects; the best of each English Language Arts and Mathematics at the grade 11 level and History 30S.
b) The best three credits from their optional subjects at the Grade 11 level.
2. Vocational Program Students:
a) Compulsory subjects; the best of each English Language Arts and Mathematics at the grade 11 level.
b) The best four credits from their optional subjects at the Grade11 level and/or the vocational semester.
History 30S is an optional course for vocational students.
Grade 12 will be calculated on the average of 5 credits as follows:
a) Compulsory subjects; the best of each English Language Arts and Mathematics at the grade 12 level.
b) The best three credits from their optional subjects at the Grade 12 level.
b) The best three credits from their optional subjects at the Grade12 level and/or the vocational semester.
NOTES:
1. Only courses reported using a percentage grade can be used for Honour Roll calculations.
2. Courses will only be used once for a student's average regardless of which level the course is at and which grade the student is in.
3. For Honour Roll purposes only courses at current grade level will be considered in the grade average regardless of when they were taken. Courses below current grade level will not be used in a student's average calculation. For example, a Grade 11 course taken in Grade 10 will not be used in the honour roll calculation until the student is in Grade 11, also a Grade 11 course taken in Grade 12 will not be used in the calculation of an average for Grade 12.
4. To be eligible for honour roll, students must be enrolled in the required number of courses to be considered a full time student for the year. (Grade 9 & 10 - 8 courses minimum, Grade 11 & 12 - 6 courses minimum.)
5. Students transferring into Morden Collegiate will be considered for Honour Roll on an individual basis.
