​Earlier this year, students were invited to plan projects that would contribute beneficially to the school, the community, and the environment. The Board of Trustees met with these groups in early February to listen to their proposals, and this week Superintendent Ross revealed to the lucky students that funding would be granted to two projects: design of a school mascot, and creation of a composting program. 

$1000 was given to the school mascot project. The team hopes that the mascot will, among other things, encourage school spirit and motivate our sports teams! Next steps on the project include surveying the school about what form the mascot should take and then sending these designs to a professional manufacturer.

$500 has been granted to the composting team. These students plan to collaborate with MCI to create a compost solution in our shared cafeteria in hopes of reducing organic waste and reinforcing a sense of environmental responsibility in each student.  The team's next step is to form a committee that will survey the school to determine the best way to implement the program.
